1月20日 First week in BrisbaneSo, the first week is over. Time sure passes fast, isnt it?
Work is okay, still learning the ropes.
Life is a bit boring, no friends, just a laptop.
Anyway I'm relieved and glad that the accomodation search is over, and I'll be moving in tomorrow.
It's a nice little unit in Wilston, and I can catch the train to work.
Wilston > Newmarket > Alderley > Enoggera
Will have no internet for a while, life is going to be miserable at night. O_o
But 3 weeks later I'll be going home for CNY, yeah, hohoho~ :) 1月11日 倒数十二小时十二个小时过后 我就在飞机上了

(Fly all the way from Hobart to Brisbane for an interview, and all the way back again, on the same day.)
0030 Back home from work. Tired.
0100 Went to bed, trying to get some sleep before a long day ahead.
0400 Woke up after a mere 3-hour sleep.
0530 Head to airport... 9 degree C, cold...
0700 Fly~ To Sydney.
1000 Fly again~ Brisbane, here I come.
1030 Brisbane is so warm, 32 degree C. I feel like I'm in Malaysia! (There's a 1 hour time difference, it's actually 1130 in Hobart.)
1100 On board the Airtrain heading to city, need to change train at Bowen Hills to get to Enoggera (where FKG office is).
And... I got onto the wrong train... (really, whot a way to start with! O_o)
1200 Realizing I was on the wrong route, got off at the next station, and went back to Bowen Hills. This time, I got it right.
1300 Finally, I got off the train at Enoggera. The office is just outside the train station, too easy~
1315 Coincidentally the manager (Richard) is outside the office, he recognized that I must be Ruby, and showed me in.
1330 Met the other manager (Nick) and the engineer (Rob). So the talking starts...
"Why did you choose this career?"
"Tell me about your skills and work experience."
"Why do you choose this company?"

1445 Nick showed me around the office, and introduced me to the staff.
Was given a pile of documents and plans to read. My initiative, bad move! Anyway.
1530 Richard gave me a lift to airport, in case I get lost again! Haha..
1600 Reached airport. Finally can get some food to eat. Famished.
1630 Made a few phone calls. Good news. Happy happy.
1735 Fly back~ Melbourne. (Time changes again.)
2215 Last leg~ Hobart.
2315 Touched down. 13 degree C in Hobart. Whot a big difference.
0030 Reached home.
A long and tiring day. But it's a good one. :) 11月25日 XTiA month before Christmas, it's Thanksgiving.
Nothing on in Australia about Thanksgiving. It's not a holiday, and no one celebrates it.
I bet no one knows or cares about it either. It's just like any other ordinary day.
But all the way up north, in the United States, it's a big event, as big as Christmas.
Well, apart from a long weekend holiday, a sumptuous turkey feast, they have this massive sales going on.
7 hours from 5am to 12pm, prices are slashed heavily, makes it a dirt cheap bargain for everyone to grab.
People queued outside the store the night before, for this legendary once-in-a-year Thanksgiving sales.
Having a friend in the States, I'm so lucky.
I finally got my dream camera at a worthy price tag.

怎么这么难? 8月7日 Cold showerHave you ever had cold shower in winter?
Well, I just had.
No, it's not like the hot water is running out. In fact, that'd be still be ok. The water is just less warm.
It's totally no hot water at all...
And I tell you, it's miserable to stand under the shower head. Have to take a deep breath before you step in.
This must be my fastest shower record, forget about the 5-min shower time in camp. This, is less than 5 minutes.

认识我的人都知道, 我并不喜欢动物, 也害怕与它们靠近.
可是, 在等客人进屋去拿钱的当儿, 我却把视线移向那小狗,
因为它就在我脚下绕着, 并向上望着我, 表情好可爱.
在与它四目交接的那一刻,
我突然有股冲动想蹲下身去摸摸它, 跟它玩,
脑中甚至有'如果我也有这样的一只狗...'的念头.
哈哈, 后来在车上, 觉得很不可思议,
因为像我这样对动物没有好感的人,
居然会想养狗了, 怎么可能...
我觉得, 是我开始害怕寂寞了. 7月21日 头痛了一整天今天早上醒来就开始头痛了
想说睡多一下下可能会好一点
结果一点好转都没有
就像很久以前 大概小学的时候
有一阵子我的头就是这样痛
看了医生 也不知道是什么原因
吃了药 也是一样痛 后来过了一阵就不再痛了
痛了一整天 所以刚刚跟barry拿了两颗panadol
其实我不喜欢吃panadol的 不过没办法了
开学一个星期了 可是也没什么真正上到课
因为其中一科是自己的thesis project 我还不知道要做什么
再一科还没敲定好导师 因为是请外面一间consulting firm的engineer
基本上四科都是design design design 哈哈
所以这个学期很轻松 只上三天课 而且没有考试
呵呵 太好了
刚才帮ahyian问了nana怎样烹调lamb rack 好多步骤啊
不过我倒是学了两个新词 法文哦 嘿嘿

 2月21日 Work experience at CKHRFinally, the two-month industrial training at CKHR (Chong Kia Hoi Realty S/B) is coming to an end. Actually the company is not an engineering firm but is rather a property developer and construction-based business. So, to tell the truth, there is not much directly related engineering stuff for me to learn. In fact, I have much leisure time at work (which I can online, haha) and mostly doing admin work if not. And if no work for me to do, there are files for me to read, those residential and commercial projects files, and of course, cant run away from those big plots of drawing plans.
Personally I think the things I've learned these two months is not particularly about engineering. I've come to feel how challenging it is to be in the corporate world, although it is also very 'dark'. I've realized the importance to know about the nation's economics and politics, the federal budget, the government strategy, the development trend, the market directions, the networking of people, ... all these I've never pay attention to and never thought that matters to me before. But after you're in it, you'll pick up all these somehow. Afterall, it's different when you're studying and when you step out into the society and start working.
One thing I find very important is a good working environment and best if a job you like. It is still okay if the job is not whot you really preferred but colleagues are friendly and positive. At least, the office mood wont be too bad. Imagine, if you dont like that job, and somemore your colleagues are selfish and unhelpful, waking up everday is a nightmare to face with those faces and work you dont like. Cant blame the boss, it's hard to be dedicative under such situation.
Anyway, it is not a bad experience. Many times, you may not have realized you've actually learned something until one day you come across it. And sometimes you can feel you start to think differently or more thoroughly. It's part of growing up and all experiences do count.
